Your interest in the Greater Largo Library Foundation already speaks volumes about your devotion to your community and its quality of life. Few things speak more clearly about a community’s character than the health and vitality of its library. Happily, the Largo Public Library says that this community is vibrant!

The Greater Largo Library Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that cultivates funding resources and advocates for the Library to enhance innovative library services for the community’s educational and social enrichment. Although the Foundation’s history goes back nearly 20 years, it truly entered the public eye in 2003, when it kicked off a capital campaign to support the construction of our new 90,000-square-foot library, the jewel of Largo’s Central Park complex. That drive raised more than $1.9-million,far exceeding its goal.

Today, the Foundation is pursuing its mission through innovative events like our brand new Outstanding Authors Series, which sponsors speaking engagements by authors whose works are especially significant to this community.

The Foundation also takes on special projects to enrich the experience inside our beautiful library. This year, we are purchasing electric mobility carts for ambulatory-challenged patrons, and several programmable signs that direct patrons to special events within the library.

Special Projects

• A new Homework Center in the library for elementary and middle school students that offers a quiet, safe after-school environment for study and tutor assistance.

• The development of a new Foreign Language section that will begin with the purchase of a Spanish language book collection. This will enhance the library's benefit to our increasingly diverse and multi-lingual community.

• An outreach program that will bring books and other library materials to area residents who are homebound, or who are otherwise not able to visit the library.

These programs and others take time, dedication and substantial financial support to launch successfully. But we are confident that it can be done with help from people like you. Please consider becoming a Foundation member. In addition to the special benefits membership gives to you, you also will have the personal satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting your community's social and cultural growth. There are many levels of membership available to you. I'm sure you will find one that is a perfect fit.

Thank you again for supporting the Greater Largo Library Foundation and, in turn, the Largo Public Library, our community's social and cultural living room.
